Friends of Standlake School (FOSS) are a registered charity. Every parent is automatically a member of FOSS which exists to support the school by providing funds for additional equipment and to support extra curricular activities.
FOSS meet regularly throughout the school year to plan fundraising events and discuss the projects at school which need financial support. Our biggest fundraiser of the year is usually the summer fete, but there are many other smaller events that we organise such as the Christmas bingo, quiz night, Easter Egg hunt and more. The events we organise are as varied as possible, for example last summer we ran a very successful "kid's duathlon" and just recently had a fantastic "Indian pop up night". Our aim is not just to raise funds for school, but to organise fun events that involve both the children and village community. We also have a textile recycling bin outside school which provides us with a small regular income. In 2013-2014 we raised £6,701.32
Projects at school we have supported include indoor gym climbing frames, purchase of 16 lap tops, outdoor play equipment, a digital camera and much more. We are always looking for new faces to help freshen up our ideas and have relaxed informal meetings in the village pub.
